Review:

This was a re-read of a novel I read back when it released because I needed a pallette cleanser because of real world events as well as reading perhaps a bit too much smut as of late.

This is a mostly light and fluffy read that focuses on two rival families who don't seem to be at each other throats. (we are told more than shown that there is a deep and long rivalry here but tbh I don't totally buy it.)

It does touch on survivors guilt and how the MMC feels because due to the death of his father he is unable to rejoin his unit at Waterloo and how he does feel guilty

One thing I didn't like is that a lot of their relationship relies on prior history, which is fine if we get more of it but given that the bulk of this story happens in 2 weeks it feels like we needed more of their shared back story to make me believe in their relationship. Otherwise it was just a childhood crush and those marriages never seem to end well

Epiphanies/quotes/ Things to remember:

- "I’m sure you’ll find your missing half at some point.” - WHile I can see how the FMC may have been struck by this it felt like we needed more of their back story. I'm sure they spent a lot of time together as children it just didn't make sense for it to still be the driving force at times.
