A Reckless Match

T itle:   A Reckless Match Author: SJM Publisher: Bloomsbury Year Published: 2021 Started: May 3 2022  Finished: May 5 2022 Review: This was a re-read of a novel I read back when it released because I needed a pallette cleanser because of real world events as well as reading perhaps a bit too much smut as of late.  This is a mostly light and fluffy read that focuses on two rival families who don't seem to be at each other throats. (we are told more than shown that there is a deep and long rivalry here but tbh I don't totally buy it.) It does touch on survivors guilt and how the MMC feels because due to the death of his father he is unable to rejoin his unit at Waterloo and how he does feel guilty  One thing I didn't like is that a lot of their relationship relies on prior history, which is fine if we get more of it but given that the bulk of this story happens in 2 weeks it feels like we needed more of their shared back story to make me believe in their rel...

Kingdom of ash (ToG 8)

Title:   Kingdom of Ash Author: SJM   Publisher:  Bloomsbury Year Published: 2020 Started: April1  2022  Finished: April 12 2022 Review: I was here for Lorcan and Elide's arc. However Aelin/Rowan once they were reunited, I didn't love their arc. Also I felt that the wolf tribe reveal was frustrating another of Aelin's plans we see or hear nothing about, I guess it was a fitting way for the series to end. I did not think Aedion did enough  to redeem himself, Lysandra should have made him beg even more. I know his father died but in the run up to that  I still hate Chaol, I know I enjoyed the focus on the mmc's mental issues in ToD but here he still annoyed me. Also while I liked them as a couple in ToD, I felt like Yrene was diminished here because of her relationship with him. (I needed more of her and Aelin) Epiphanies/quotes/ Things to remember:  - "So Lorcan did." - this book was already 1000 pages long and we couldn't get their fir...
