Review:

I gave up and just skipped over the 3rd book in the series, it got too cringe for me to handle at times and I just couldn't do it.

I don't get why she's still so in love with him at the start of this book, also I don't fully understand Baldair's approach of having the guard go looking for her, couldn't Aldrik just look and see through the bond?

Also he didn't need to die. And we all knew from the first book the minister was evil right? Like they weren't subtle about illusions and mentioning he was a waterrunner so it didn't feel like a huge surprise. (though the fact it took her so long to see through his illusion is concerning for someone who claims to be sooo in love with the man he was impersonating.

One thing I don't love about this series is that except for the first one it always felt like all 5 books were more one long book that were just split up than 5 individual books with individual plot lines in service of a larger tale

Epiphanies/quotes/ Things to remember:

- “Return to the life I had? That option left me long ago.” - I get that she's still mourning her relationship with Aldrik but it just doesn't feel sincere because it doesn't feel like she was even trying to move on.

- “Because he said he considers you his sister.” Also this is awk af because she such a crush on him in the first book, I mean that is what ultimately got her into this whole mess isn't it?
